My little one, Elena, broke out in a string of rashes this past fall and we never actually got to the bottom of it but when the last one went away it left her with rough patchy skin. We’ve been dealing with her sensitive skin off and on since she was born and unfortunately it looks like she inherited my eczema. We have tried various store bought lotions, visited the pediatrician, and started giving her cooler baths to prevent her skin from drying out any further. Nothing works. The doctor says it will probably wax and wane till the humid weather arrives but I can’t help but feel bad for her when I touch her cute little thighs and they feel like sandpaper!
I came across some recipes for lotion bars on Pinterest last week and decided to give it a try. Now, I never make at home what I can buy in a store because I do not have time to spare but I’m sharing because it’s actually working for her! They are made from 3 simple organic ingredients: beeswax pellets, coconut oil, almond oil- no additives, no chemicals, all natural, and easy to make. I found my particular recipe here at Mom Makes Joy. Each ingredient can be purchased from Amazon so I had them all at my doorstep in 2 days and the process took me 15 minutes. So now when we’re getting dressed in the morning, diaper changes, and after bath time, I rub one of the little bars across her skin to keep her moisturized. We’ve been using it for 2 days and I already see a difference which is wonderful because we’ve been looking for a solution for months now.
